Kamikochi is a mountainous region in Chubu Sangaku National Park, which has been designated as one of Japan’s National Cultural Assets. It’s a popular place for trekking, camping, and just generally enjoying the natural scenery. It has mountain trails for the hardcore hikers, as well as short walks that can be completed in only a few hours. Kamikochi is open from mid-April to mid-November every year, and I’m particularly looking forward to visiting again in October to see the supposedly fantastic autumn colours.
Where are some of your favourite hiking spots?
