Sunday Snapshot: Celebration in Taiwan

Today’s Sunday Snapshot comes from Constance, a Canadian Expat who currently calls Taiwan home.  Constance has traveled extensively around Asia and blogs about her travel experiences as well as her personal reflections about expat life on her blog, Foreign Sanctuary.  Photography is one of her passions and she includes several photos daily on her Facebook page.

Matzu temple celebration in Lugang, Taiwan

“The man, pictured in this photo wearing warrior make-up, was part of a temple celebration in Lugang, Taiwan. This particular Matzu temple is the oldest of its kind in Taiwan and hosts several elaborate celebrations throughout the year.  The photo was captured during one of the first temple celebrations I ever witnessed in Taiwan. Also, it is a candid shot, taken during the warrior’s routine and therefore, shows the true authenticity of the temple celebration. Personally, I really love the carefully applied warrior makeup and the decorative detail of the head piece displayed in this photo”.

What is one of your favourite celebrations or festivals? Tell me about it in the comments!
