Today’s Sunday Snapshot comes from Emily James, the founder and editor-in-chief of Here and There, a travel website with an eclectic collection of travel stories, articles, and photography bound to inspire your next journey. She is an adventurer, a lover of ancient artifacts and abandoned places, and an adorer of alliterations. Emily was born and raised in California and has had the travel bug for as long as she can remember.
“On a hot June day, I decided to explore the citadel – a hill in the middle of Amman that has been inhabited continuously since the Neolithic period. The area is now an open-air museum. After sharing a cup of tea with the museum staff, I took a stroll around the grounds. In the late afternoon sun, I stopped to sit at the base of the crumbling Temple of Hercules and admire the beautiful city full of white buildings. As I looked upon the city, sitting in the warmth of the sun, the sweet smell of jasmine mixed with arghila wafted up from below, and the call to prayer echoed through the hills .”
Have you ever had a magical moment listening to the call to prayer?
